Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, one of the most talked about movies of 2017, is all set to hit the theatres in India this Friday! This highly anticipated English Musical Fantasy movie, directed by Bill Condon, stars Emma Watson, Luke Evans, Dan Stevens and Ewan McGregor in the lead roles. As the film gears up to open in India this week, here’s all you need to know ahead of its release.

A glimpse of the trailer and we know nothing much has changed as far as the plot is concerned. Set in the 18th-19th century France, The Beauty and the Beast is the story of Belle (Emma Watson) and a ferocious beast played by Dan Stevens. Belle finds herself imprisoned by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realizes the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. It’s a love story between a beautiful princess and prince in the guise of a beast.

The makers have retained the Academy Award-winning soundtrack from the original film. Along with the original tracks, three new songs have been added to this upcoming Hollywood movie. These new songs have been written by Menken and Tim Rice and sung by Celine Dion, Ariana Grande and John Legend. Emma Watson has given her voice to the Belle song.

For the first time ever, a Disney movie will feature a gay character. In the film, Gaston’s right-hand man, Le Fou (played by Josh Gad), wants to get intimate with Gaston. He is a character who is confused about his feelings towards Gaston.

Interestingly, Ryan Gosling was offered the role of Beast but he turned it down for La La Land. Emma Watson was approached for La La Land and she refused that movie for the Beauty and the Beast. Isn’t this a strange World!
