The Universal Law of attraction is back again in the limelight with all the good reasons. Christopher Nolan’s Batman’s love interest, Katie Holmes has landed the coveted role in the movie adaptation of Rhonda Byrne’s ‘The Secret’. Hitch and Sweet Home Alabama filmmaker Andy Tennant has already signed on to direct Bekah Brunstetter’s screenplay and now Holmes has been added. The self-help book, The Secret, was published in 2009 and became an instant bestseller and spent over three years on the New York Times bestseller list, selling 30 million copies worldwide. It has also been translated into 50 different languages.
It’s not the first time the project has been filmed. A documentary was also released on DVD in 2006 and it gained a worldwide fame across the varied set of audiences. Though it will be the first time that this self help, bestselling book will be made and adapted in a film. The lead actress Holmes will play a widow and mother of three children. During a terrible storm, Holmes’ character calls a handyman to fix her house. Somehow the handyman grows closer to the family and with that he shares his philosophy of believing in the power of the universe to deliver what we want. However, the widow soon realises he carries a secret connection to her past.
The author, Rhonda Byrne, is pretty excited for the film version of The Secret. She feels this movie will not only be a great thrill for The Secret fans across the planet, it’s also certain to ripple out and touch millions more. Also, Holmes will be seen next in director Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Logan Lucky along with Bond actor Daniel Craig and she also has a cameo in the upcoming all-women Ocean’s Eight, which will hit cinemas next summer. The movie is made with the intent to keep it as funny, emotional and endearing as its message is hopeful. With this great news at our bay, it will be equally exciting to watch this charming actress in this amazing adaptation leaving a mark on people’s hearts.
