Mammootty plays the role of a father named Amudhavan who is trying to mimic his daughter Paapa’s physical condition. His powerful monologue gives us a gist of the story that will unfold while he says, “All these years I was worried why Paapa is not like other children. But when I tried walking like her I realised comparing one person with another is brutal.”

Peranbu has already received praise internationally with its world premiere at the 47th International Rotterdam Film Festival where it was the only Indian film to feature in the top 20 in the Audience Award category. It was also an official selection at Shanghai International Film Festival and was even nominated for a NETPAC award which is given to the best Asian films.
