Rangoon: A Possible Love Triangle in a Post-War Drama!

Written by Mansi Gupta

There is no fun in a love story if a third person is not involved. Whether we talk about real life stories or reel life, the third person involvement makes the other two vulnerable, and that’s when interest starts to flow. Bollywood has been exploring stories around love triangles for years now. Some of the biggest stars owe their popularity to films on love triangles. Right from the time of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai from the 90s, to Ishq Vishq in 2000, Cocktail in 2012 and more recently, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, these stories have been at the centre of audiences minds. When Vishal Bhardwaj’s upcoming movie, Rangoon was announced, starring Saif Ali KhanShahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut, interest levels piqued exponentially.

It is one of the most anticipated films of the year, after Raees and Kaabil which released earlier this week. After all, Vishal Bhardwaj is making a comeback as a director after the highly acclaimed ‘Haider’. On top of this is the powerful cast of Shahid, Kangana Ranaut and Saif, and you can definitely expect to see magic happening on the screen. The film will bring back memories of India under British colonial control and an era gone by and lived by our ancestors. Given Vishal’s fondness of extracting career best performances from every actor he has worked with, one can just see the same from the cast and crew of this upcoming hindi movie Rangoon.

The neatly cut trailer establishes the relationship that Kangana shares with Saif and Shahid and gives ample space to all three actors to display their wares. Kangana looks equally at ease while romancing both the leading men. The face-off sequence between Shahid and Saif will be one of the most keenly awaited moments. These stellar actors who will share screen space for the first time ever in their Bollywood careers in Bhardwaj’s film, which is a war drama set at the backdrop of World War II during 1944.
