The methodology for counting the rankings have changed which now excludes the “fame quotient”. The major criteria includes estimated entertainment-related earnings of celebrities and period under consideration being October 1, 2016 to September 30, 2017 among others.
Salman Khan at fifty-one years old, for the second successive year, grabbed the top spot, despite the subdued box office performance of his film Tubelight. The actor earned ₹232.83 crore, backed by endorsements of several consumer brands and his much hyped upcoming movie Tiger Zinda Hai is sure to help him get ahead in the New Year too.
Akshay Kumar is at number four followed by cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar who has moved up a few spots from last year to number five. Aamir Khan has moved into the top ten spot at number six whereas, Amitabh Bachchan has dropped out of it. Also, Deepika Padukone who’s film Padmavati has been delayed indefinitely has also dropped out of the top ten spots. Global superstar Priyanka Chopra comes in at number seven.

Other notable celebrities on the list are Prabhas who was a breakout star this year with his movie Baahubali 2 and is ranked at number twenty-two. Rajnikanth fans would be disappointed to learn however that he is nowhere to be seen on the list. Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor is at the forty seventh spot followed by Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif at fifty-five and fifty-six respectively.
