Time flies! It seems like only yesterday that a kid of 10 years charmed us with his innocence and brilliant performance in Aamir Khan starrer Taare Zameen Par. It has been 10 years since this gem of a movie released and Darsheel Safari is all grown up now. He is a handsome 20 year young lad studying BMM in HR college, Mumbai. After Taare Zameen Par, he stayed away from the silver screen for quite some time. However the handsome hunk is back now on the big screen with his movie, Quickie. It’s a teenage love story, helmed by Pradip Atluri.
After mesmerising us all as a dyslexic child, Ishaan, in ‘Taare Zameen Par’, he went on to star in films like Priyadarshan’s Bumm Bumm Bole, which was the remake of much loved and acclaimed, Majid Majidi’s Children Of Heaven, as a superhero in Zokkomon and in Deepa Mehta’s Midnight’s Children. He also made an appearance on the dance reality show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Jaa’ in 2012. Last year, he was seen on MTV’s Yeh Hai Aashiqui. He also made his debut in commercial theatre last year with director Abhishek Pattnaik’s play, ‘Can I Help You?’ at the NCPA. In his very first play he got the opportunity to share stage with the stalwarts of theatre, including Dalip Tahil and Anant Mahadevan. Last seen in the Mango Frooty ad, Darsheel has transformed into one handsome hunk.
Directed by Pradip Alturi and produced by Tony D’Souza, Amul Vikas Mohan and Nitin Upadhyaya, Quickie will explore the concept of love in modern times. The teaser poster of the film is already out and instantly caught our attention as it read, “no buffering, no suffering.” Of course, Darsheel’s transformation into a handsome hunk is also so noteworthy in the poster. Interestingly, the story is stated to be based on real life events. We see a lot of technical jargons like Yolo, Netflix, Bromance, chill to name a few – written on the poster that gives us a faint idea of how this love story will connect to the youth and the internet. The story line seems intriguing and fresh and we hope Darsheel impress us again with his brilliant acting skills.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh yesterday tweeted the first look of the film and it clicked with the young audience instantly. Though the release date of the film is not yet finalised, it is expected to hit the theatres any time soon.
