If you didn’t know, a biopic on the life of Freddie Mercury is underway and the film released its first trailer yesterday. Titled Bohemian Rhapsody (based on one of Queen’s most famous songs), the film features Rami Malek as the legendary singer. Freddie Mercury has strong Indian roots despite being English, since his parents were Parsis from the then-British province of Bombay. Naturally, a film on this acclaimed singer is a rage even in this country as it is in England.
The making of the film has had its share of controversies, with Sacha Baron Cohen being originally picked for the titular role. In November 2016, it was announced that the Emmy-winning actor of Mr. Robot will star as Freddie Mercury. After months of filming under the direction of Bryan Singer, who is known for The Usual Suspects and the X-Men series, the director was fired due to clashes with the cast and crew. Dexter Fletcher (directed Eddie the Eagle) was hired shortly after to complete the filming process.
After the release of the poster, where Rami Malek looks uncannily like the legend himself, the trailer is finally out. Malek has personified the singer, whose songs are a big hit even today. Naturally, we cannot wait for the release, which is slated to be on the 24th of October in the UK and the 2nd of November in the US.
