Ram Gopal Verma (RGV) is back with a promising web series called Kadapa which has the distinction of being the first international web series in Telugu. The series is definitely not for the faint of heart and delves into the real-life story of factionalism in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Ram Gopal Verma is no stranger to controversy and this daring project might lead him to encounter some detractors. However, he has changed the names of places and people whose stories will be showcased in the series.
The four-minute action-packed trailer for Kadapa was released today and it is safe to say that the series is a no-holds-bar kind of an affair that doesn’t shy away from showing blood and gore. Having said that, the plot line for the series appears to be solid as well. The trailer showcases Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh which was terrorized by Rayalaseema Reddys and shows us violence in many forms from hacking a man’s leg off to explosions, bludgeoning a man to death, stabbing and what not. We are shown the deserted houses of people living in the region and the barren land surrounding it, all of which makes for a very believable landscape and adds a sense of depth to the story.
All in all, Kadapa appears to be intriguing and has some witty dialogues too like, ‘When a man kills another he is a murderer but when he kills a lot of people, he is a leader.’ This would be RGV’s second project on the digital platform after his Hindi web-series on the Mumbai underworld called Guns and Thighs
