30 years ago came a film that achieved a cult status today. We are talking about the Anil Kapoor- Sri Devi starrer, Mr. India. It is one of the biggest cult classics Bollywood has ever produced. Almost every one of us has seen this movie at least once in our lives, and has attached some childhood memories with it. The magic of Mr. India will be spread again, as the makers are recently announced the sequel of this 1987 hit. Apparently, the sequel was being planned for a long time, but the makers were in search of a solid plot to take the story forward. Now that a perfect script has been zeroed upon, the film will soon start to get rolled out on the floor.

Of course, Anil Kapoor and Sri Devi were the soul of Mr. India and we cannot imagine the film without them. While both of them will reprise their roles from the original, a new young couple will also be roped in. And if rumours are to be believed, Anil Kapoor's son, Harshvardhan Kapoor, will be stepping into his father's shoes in the sequel. If everything falls in place, then this will be his first film with his family production (Boney Kapoor Production). Sri Devi, who is gearing up for the release of her upcoming Hindi movie, Mom on July 7th , will start shooting for Mr. India's sequel very soon. She starred opposite Anil Kapoor in the original, and will reprise the same role in the sequel.

Mr. India had another memorable character which we cannot forget ever. Amrish Puri's Mogambo is one of the most loved villains of Bollywood. Whether this character is to be recreated in the sequel or not is not yet clear, but one thing is for sure, no body can play Mogambo as Mr. Puri did. His, “Mogambo Khush Hua”, is one of most unforgettable dialogues of Hindi cinema.

While the original Mr. India was helmed by Shekhar Kapur, this time the production house is roping in another director. Rang De Basanti's, Rakyesh Om Prakash Mehra and Sri Devi's “Mom” director, Ravi Udyawar, are strong contenders to helm the sequel. While the movie shooting has not yet started, we are already so excited about it. Will the sequel also prove to be a blockbuster like the original? Only time will tell!
