Deep Purple

2013, so far, has been very kind to the Indian music scene. With the Deep Purple India tour, the year just got better. Deep Purple is considered the granddaddies of classic rock. This time they will be performing as a part of the Fly Music Festival. Deep Purple will perform only in New Delhi.

The band formed way back in 1968. In 1975 they were credited by the Guinness Book Of World Records as the World’s loudest band.

Deep Purple have gone through quite a few lineup changes. The best lineup that Deep Purple ever had (according to a lot of music critics) comprised Ian Gillan (Vocals), Ritchie Blackmore (Guitars), Jon Lord (Keyboard), Ian Paice (Drums) and Roger Glover (Bass). Songs like Smoke On The Water, Highway Star and Burn made audiences across the world go wild. These songs are still played at a lot of concerts even today. That is the kind of dominance that Deep Purple have on the rock n’ roll world. Currently, the lineup has two changes. Steve Morse (instead of Blackmore on Guitars) and Don Airey (instead of Jon Lord on Keyboard). The demise of Jon Lord caused quite a stir in the music world.

The band is a part of the exquisite Fly Music Festival that features thrash metal heroes Anthrax, nu-metal geniuses LimpBizkit, Indian rock n’ roll pioneers Indus Creed, Ray Manzarek & Robby Krieger (of The Doors), Reggae prodigies Reggae Rajahs, Singer-Songwriter KT Tunstall and many more.

The festival also has a plethora of Indian bands performing. After all the local junta loves Indian bands like Pentagram, Thermal And A Quarter, Them Clones and many more. Also performing is the insane bhangra group from the United Kingdom – The Dhol Foundation.

This is a kind of festival that has something for everybody. Nobody will be disappointed by the lineup. This is one event no music lover in the country should miss.
