Air Quality is deteriorating in Delhi and it’s concerning because now shows and festivals are getting cancelled because of it. The heavy smog in the capital region is increasing day by day and the alarming situation has another victim now. Sunburn Festival, one of the most popular music festivals in the country, has been called off by the organisers citing poor air quality in the city as the reason. The Tropical House DJ, Kygo, who was scheduled to perform in the capital on November 25, is dusted and the money will be refunded back to the audience.
Sunburn managing director Harinder Singh in a recent interview to DNA stated, “Looking at the health advisory issued and keeping in mind the health of not just the artists but also the audience, we decided to cancel the event.” Rajeev Jain, one of the other organisers has said, “Kygo doesn’t want to perform in Delhi because of the high air pollution. He will be going to perform in Mumbai and Hyderabad as per the schedule. Every year, we face difficulties in getting permissions from the authorities. But this time, when Delhi Police is co-operating with us and we have all the permissions, the smog has played spoilsport.”
The official announcement was out from the Facebook account of Sunburn Festival, informing about the concert been scrapped because of the unprecedented smog levels in the city. After this unsought event, the other two shows for the tour in Mumbai and Hyderabad on November 24 and November 26, respectively will be running as scheduled.
