Two years after being scared out of your wits by an Ouija board, the prequel to the film,Ouija: Origin of Evil, will take you back into history, when the evil spirit was summoned from the board for the first time. Starring Doug Jones, Elizabeth Reaser, Lin Shaye and Henry Thomas in important roles, The movie released abroad last year and set to hit the theatres in India on March 3. This English Horror movie received mostly positive reviews abroad, so let's see if this prequel is able to scare us the same way the first part did.
As the movie gears up to release this Friday, here's all you need to know about Ouija: Origin of Evil:
1. While the first Ouija Movie was set in the present, this part will take you back to 1965, when the evil was first summoned from the Ouija board. It is the story of a widowed mother, Alice (Elizabeth Reaser), and her two daughters, Paulina (Annalise Basso) and Doris (Lulu Wilson). Desperate to support her children, Alice is running a seance scam business, tricking costumers into believing they’re talking to dead loved ones - even if it’s an outright lie. In an effort to spice up her act, they add a new prop, an Ouija board. But little does she know, what were once parlor tricks and theatrics become very real and dangerous because it isn’t just a game. She’s actually making contact with dead ones. She actually summons an evil entity from the ouija board.
2. This upcoming movie is helmed by Mike Flanagan. It is Produced by Michael Bay, Bradley Fuller, Andrew Form, Jason Blum, Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis, and Trevor Macy. Mike Flanagan and Jeff Howard have written the story. The Newton Brothers have given the music for this film. Ouija: Origin of Evil is presented by Universal studios worldwide.
3. The movie promises to be more scary than the first one. Relatively little blood is shed, though “Origin of Evil” offers up enough unsettling imagery and suspenseful situations to deliver a steady stream of scares.
