It's official! The third instalment of Salman Khan's superhit franchise, Dabangg, will be helmed by none other than Prabhu Deva. It was Prabhu Deva who had given Salman's dwindling career a boost with his debut directorial venture, Wanted, in 2008. While Wanted 2 is on the cards, according to reports, Salman has convinced Prabhu Deva to helm Dabangg 3 as well. The first instalment of Dabangg had been directed by Abhinav Kashyap and the second one was helmed by Arbaaz Khan, who had also acted in it. Apparently, Arbaaz was to direct Dabangg 3, but he decided not to. That is when Salman requested his good friend, Prabhu Deva, to step in as the director of the third instalment if this successful franchise. The film is likely to go on floors by end of this year.

The Dabangg franchise was introduced in 2010 and turned out to be a major blockbuster at the box office that year. The character that Salman Khan played in the film, Chulbul Pandey, had become a trend and very popular among the masses. The movie entered the so called 100-crore club in the film industry. After two years came the second instalment, Dabangg 2, and carried forward the same effect. It also rang in the cash registers at box office like never before. Now with Dabangg 3, coming after almost five years, the expectations are even more. Salman Khan will reprise his role of the wacky Chulbul Pandey once again.

Apart from Dabangg 3, Salman Khan has a couple of more films in his kitty. Currently he is busy shooting for Ali Abbas Zafar's Tiger Zinda Hain with Katrina Kaif, in Morocco. This film will release this Christmas. After wrapping the shoot for it, he will kick start the shooting for Race 3, to be helmed by Remo D'Souza. In the mean time, he will also be hosting the eleventh season of popular reality show, Big Boss, for which he has returned for the seventh time this year. The actor was last seen in Kabir Khan's Tubelight, which failed to impress the fans and viewers at the box office. After the not so successful Tubelight, fans would be eager to see their superstar making a strong comeback.

Chulbul Pandey is till date the most popular character Salman has played on screen, and fans will be excited to watch him reprising this iconic role once again!
