The platform is all set and all there to astonish you with some groundbreaking performances from artists renowned for their work in the Indian Film Industry. This March, on the 26th and 27th, Shakespeare Comedy Theatre Festival is all ready to take you through a journey of humour never experienced before. It is one of the best upcoming events in Kolkata with four distinct adaptations across 11 different cities in India. Watch ‘As You Like It’, ‘King Lear’ , ‘Macbeth’ and ‘Hamlet’, in a way that you have never seen before, with all the characters as clowns. The adaptations are Written & Directed by Kapoor and Sons fame actor Rajat Kapoor . Also, we will get to see some of the famous faces of Bollywood like Vinay Pathak , Ranvir Shorey, Kalki Koechlin, Cyrus Sahukar and Neil Bhoopalam, among plenty more who will dazzle you with their extraordinary portryal of characters. Brace yourselves for an interesting ride to say the least and have a look at the 4 plays following below-

MACBETH - WHAT IS DONE IS DONE: Once again the clowns draw us to the world of Macky B and his Lady. The righteous Macky B is a good man, a brave soldier, a loyal friend and he would have been the same perhaps, if he didn't meet those three weird sisters that night! He would have been happier. Sometimes it is better to not know what is in store for us. Sometimes, all you need is a little push to the other side.

NOTHING LIKE LEAR: Ever thought what a clown does when he is depressed? It sure is tough being a clown. Here is one who hasn't stopped crying for days and boy does he have plenty of reasons. The one he loved most has left him and gone away, for good. Now he has nothing. Also, he isn't getting any younger. In fact he is old. But more than anything else, he is sad because he has been forced to perform this play.

HAMLET - THE CLOWN PRINCE: A bunch of clowns are putting up a show of Hamlet, and they sometimes misinterpret the text, sometimes find new meanings in it, sometimes try and understand it, very often make a mess of it. They chose to use some phrases from the play and mixed it with gibberish. They even edited the text, threw out some important scenes, and made a mess of the order of things as if the pages got mixed up. But through this all they were simply looking for the essence of Hamlet, and trying to find a context in our own times.

I DON'T LIKE IT - AS YOU LIKE IT: A troupe of clowns has not been doing too well lately. Combined with the downhill financial status, the relationships of the clowns are all messed up. Nobody can stand anybody else in the troupe really. The director tries to put up another Shakespeare play and decides that the men will play women and women, men. The troupe rebels. But in spite of all their fears and doubts, they do manage to put up a show eventually, and in the process they discover something new about themselves.

This event out of all the plays in Kolkata seems absolutely unmissable. Take our word for this and watch out for a mind boggling experience. Book your tickets now with BookMyShow and spread the word!
