India v/s Australia: Men In Blue Emerged Victory

India vs Australia Test Result March 2017
Written by Archit Chawla

Team India is supposedly in good form in the ongoing test series with Australia. After losing the first test match by a huge difference of 333 runs and the batsmen seemingly struggling to get enough runs on the board, all the players including the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Karun Nair, Pujara and others had failed terribly to get India a good start and put up some runs against the Aussies. Following the dismal performance in the first Test, the Indian bowlers have put up one of their best performances under pressure in the second test match at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore to defend a total of 188 in the fourth innings. They thus left behind the harrowing Pune defeat and brought parity in the four test match series by leveling it at 1-1.

India Vs Australia Second Test

At the forefront of the day, 4 victory was Ravichandran Ashwin who destroyed the Australian batting line-up by taking 6 wickets for 41 runs. This match apparently had more twists and turns than a roller coaster ride in a fun park, and just mentioning one player will be unfair. In the first innings, after Team India were down at 189 runs, Australia proved themselves worthy of regaining the #1 spot in the ICC Test Team Rankings and got a lead of 87 runs. Ravindra Jadeja a.k.a Sir Ravindra Jadeja by his fans and other cricketers got up to the title and made his mark with (6/63) against the kangaroos.

Cheteshwar Pujara’s (92) and Ajinkya Rahane’s (52) brilliant knocks in these scarce times were a bliss and might as well a match-turning event in the third innings. And the importance of KL Rahul’s twin fifties, 90 & 51, on a track where everyone else was struggling to settle even, cannot be undermined as well. Our pace batteries Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav stepped up with a promising spell on the final day that and put Australia down at 112. India bowlers spat venom while bowling to the Aussie batsmen as they knew the importance of those wickets. With the pitch offering just the kind of assistance they needed, managed to clinch the victory soon enough.

This match got in the news for various reasons. One was Ishant Sharma imitating Steve Smith with weird facial expressions that caught the attention of everyone. The second one again happened to include the Australian skipper when he was seen signaling towards pavilion for an advice on the usage of DRS. In spite of all the resistance including that of the captain Steve Smith, it could only prolong the inevitable, which was the Men in Blue emerging as victors just before the occasion of Holi. It will be a great sight to watch both these teams clashing in the third test match starting on 16th of March at Ranchi.
