Chennai Super Kings is returning to the tournament after a two-year suspension. And what could be
more exciting than Dhoni returning to the franchise he is synonymous with?

169 players were brought by eight franchises in a two day auction to fill a slot of 182 players. CSK played it smart in the auctions. Getting back their core players, CSK left the room with one of the strongest squads of IPL 2018.

After two years, Chennai Super Kings is back with a bang and they are looking forward to winning this season. CSK retained their star captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Former CSK players Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja were retained by the team as well.

Dhoni has played as many as 159 IPL matches making 3561 runs and an average of 37.88. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, CSK has won two IPL titles. Dhoni was quoted saying that Chennai is his second home and fans there have adopted him as his own. On being asked about returning to CSK, Dhoni said:

“A lot of people approached me, I can tell you that. But I can’t think of not coming back to CSK. What we have been through, how we have conducted ourselves, how the management has been, how the fans have been. This is a special place. So that thought of being in any other franchise was never a question.”

After spending 10 years with Mumbai Indians, Harbhajan Singh is looking forward to play with the MS Dhoni-led CSK. Harbhajan is thrilled to reunite with the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. Harbhajan was quoted saying:

“He (Dhoni) understands the game really well, is street-smart and thinks ahead of the game and I feel that’s very important for a captain, especially in T20. That’s what makes him a great skipper.”

Dhoni believes that winning the IPL title is necessary to bring back the team’s confidence. Will Dhoni work his magic this time? Fans will have to wait it out until the first match that will witness defending champions, Mumbai Indians play against Chennai Super Kings.
