Dinesh Karthik is all set to lead Kolkata Knight Riders in the eleventh edition of the Indian Premiere League 2018. Not only is he the team captain but this will also be his first season with KKR.
Robin Uthappa who was also one of the choices for the same has now been appointed as the team’s Vice-captain.
Since its beginning in 2008, Dinesh Karthik has been a part of IPL. In the last 10 seasons of IPL, Karthik has been a part of five teams namely; Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore and most recently Gujarat Lions.
Team co-owner and the Badshah of Bollywood took to twitter to welcome the new team captain.
As we stand poised for a new season of KKR we welcome @DineshKarthik as our Captain. Like our Captains over the yrs we know u will also lead us by boosting the self esteem & dignity of all of us.

Dinesh Karthik had this to say after being announced as the captain:
He also added that he will try his best to take the team forward from where Gautam Gambhir left. On the other hand, Gambhir has been appointed the team captain of Delhi Daredevils for IPL 2018.
With everything shaping up for KKR, it would be interesting to see the team perform under the captainship of Karthik. But reportedly, there is some bad news for KKR as well. Just three weeks before IPL, the team faced a jolt in the form of an injury sustained by veteran Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Johnson. KKR may need to look for another pace bowler who can take his place.
KKR will play their first match against RCB on April 8 2018 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
