One way or the other, Virat Kohli is growing and growing bigger day by day. You talk about his brand value or the cricketing records he’s touching the sky with every match he plays. And taking his test winning streak forward, he is all set to break Saurav Ganguly’s record for most consecutive test wins for India. He just needs three more wins to surpass Dada’s record as the Indian skipper in the upcoming three test match series against the neighbouring nation Sri Lanka. Breaching this milestone is surely going to add a feather to his cap and looking at the current form of Team India, it’s pretty much achievable.
Saurav Ganguly presently holds the record for second-most wins for India in test cricket. He has captained the team in 49 Tests in which he had won 21 games. Virat Kohli on the other hand, has captained Team India in 29 Test matches is on 19 wins and just needs three more victories to surpass Dada’s tally. Without any second thoughts, MS Dhoni leads the list with 27 victories under his name. However, looking at the international figures, it’s the South African skipper Graeme Smith who leads the list with 53 wins from 104 Tests followed by Aussie legend Ricky Ponting – who has 48 wins in 77 games.
The hosts are currently on a 9-series winning streak, which started back in 2015 when they defeated the same opponents in their home. Since that time, Team India has beaten South Africa, the West Indies, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh, Australia and Sri Lanka to record their longest ever winning streak in the format. Nevertheless, the India-Sri Lanka Test series starts on 16th November, 2017 and we all are expecting clean sweep from the hosts.
