Even when you have a good knack or just raw talent, it’s not gonna let you sail to victory every single time. This thing was recently tested in the ATP World Tour Finals when one of the all time greatest tennis stars Roger Federer survived a tough examination against 20 year old Alexander Zverev to advance to the semi-finals and became the first man through to the last four at the O2 Arena. Class forehands make for great highlights and aces for quick glimpses, but variety might be the key to success and Roger Federer showed plenty of it in his match with Zverev to reach the Nitto ATP Semis. Even though it’s not a new thing that this Swiss Maestro has proved his mettle in front of young and aspiring players, this match was special nevertheless.
Both these players have confronted each other 4 times now and have won twice each. There is no doubt that this German player is doing exceptionally well at his age but this recent clash was nothing short of awestruck moments. The pro-Federer crowd was not easy to sway to the other side and being the Number #1 ranked player in the current cup makes him everyone’s favourite. His almost arch-enemy Rafael Nadal, who was previously ranked #1 in the ATP rankings, is out due to an injury. Federer is going to face Marin Cilic on Thursday and is all set to clinch a spot in the final.
Federer, who has won six of these titles took the game pretty seriously and showed his grandeur by beating Alexander Zverev 7-6 (5), 5-7, 6-1. Roger Federer took 131 minutes to finish the game, although not all of that experience was entirely serene. It was full of ups and downs and now he plays Cilic to try and reach the finals and clinch the title.
