One of the world's biggest Formula One events, the Singapore Grand Prix is one of F1's most controversial tracks. With a long and eventful history, the famous track was first opened in 1961. Called the Orient Year Grand Prix, then changed to the Malaysian Grand Prix, and finally named as the Singapore Grand Prix, the circuit has had one of the most notorious reputations for being a dangerous track. Owing to the danger it posed to drivers, the track was shut down in 1973, due to high mortality rates. However, racing fans all over the world finally received good news, when the track was revamped and declared open in the year 2007, much to the happiness of F1 fans all around the world, especially in Asia. To sum it up simply, the Grand Prix is a mix of intense rivalries, dangerous crashes and huge fans of the sport.

Over time, the rivalries of Formula 1 have been notorious. Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso, and the likes. The rivalries for the track come to Singapore this time, where Fernando Alonso has won it twice (2008 and 2010), Lewis Hamilton has won it twice (2009 and 2014) and Sebastian Vettel has won it thrice (2011, 2012 and 2013).

Many changes have been made to the track, due to the high number of accidents that kept occurring at the track. However, the danger that accompanies an F1 Car is hardly anything that will deter a driver from competing in a sport where death is almost certain. The race will definitely expect huge numbers of people to show up, due to the risky nature of the race. Ticket sales have been insane, with numbers going north of a 100000 tickets every time.

Apart from the high octane action on the track, this year will also see internationally acclaimed artists perform at the venue, including Pharrell Williams, Maroon 5 and Spandau Ballet! However, the best part of the race in Singapore is that it will be a night race, and will be conducted on the streets of the lively city!
