A lot is brewing in Delhi this week! And the theatre scene is especially buzzing with excitement. Some new, some classics, and some evergreen plays have come to the city to give every theatre enthusiast a reason to cheer up. From comedy to drama and satire to musical, plays from each genre are up for display this week! So here we present to you our list of five most recommended upcoming plays happening in your city this week that are worth watching!

1. Chandragupta
Written by Jai Shankar Prasad and directed by Varun Sharma, Chandragupta traces the life and struggles of the great Magadha king, Chandragupta. The play focuses on how Chanakya, with the help of Chandragupta, overthrows Nanda dynasty and establishes the Maurya dynasty. It’s the story of politics, diplomacy, revenge, hatred and conspiracy. The play will be staged at Sri Ran Centre on Friday, June 2nd . Book your tickets here!

2. Big B
A critically acclaimed play that is being performed all over India and abroad too has come to Delhi this week! Big B is a one-of-its-kind play and don’t go on the name, it has nothing to do with Mr. Amitabh Bachchan. Big B here is Big Brother. It’s about two ‘English-educated-Hindi-speaking’ brothers – the ‘studious’ Kamta Prasad and the ‘sporty’ Samta Prasad and their hilarious tryst with subjects like English, History and Maths. The play is scheduled to be staged at Sri Ram Centre on Saturday, June 3rd .

3. Muhammad Tripathi
A brand new play from team Nirantar, Muhammad Tripathi is a Hindi satire on the various vices prevailing in our contemporary world. Always known for providing some thought-provoking theatre, Nirantar group has tried to bring out the issue of Religious Choice through this satire called Muhammad Tripathi. The play is going to be staged at L.T.G auditorium this Saturday!

4. Pierrot’s Troupe Presents Ghalib in Delhi
This classic play, running since 1997 with more than 400 shows across the country will grace the stage of Sri Ram Centre this Saturday! If you haven’t got a chance to watch this Hindi comedy play yet, don’t miss it this Saturday!

5. Gadhe Ki Baarat
Gadhe Ki Baarat is a very famous Marathi comedy play translated to Hindi. Featuring many renowned theatre artists like Dinesh Ahlawat, Supriya Pahuja, Mahinder Singh Juneja and many more, the play is scheduled to be staged at Alliance Francaise on Sunday June 4th .
