Much hyped and one of the latest Netflix original shows, The Punisher stars Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, an ex-special forces soldier who becomes a vigilante fighting crime after his family is brutally murdered. His inclusion in the Netflix show Daredevil was indeed one of the reasons it was Marvel’s best TV adaption ever and in spite of being gory and pretty violent, Frank Castle gradually became more likeable to the audience just as the story picks up speed, diving into police conspiracy and shootouts.

There have been innumerable adaptations of Sherlock Holmes being surfaced over the decades, but this BBC series Sherlock offers one of the more interesting and entertaining twists with some high quality actors. The series puts the characters of Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dr. James Watson (Martin Freeman) in a live-in flat at 221 B, Baker Street, solving crimes and murder mysteries following the same detective genre as the foundation on which Sherlock is built. Each episode is 90 minutes long (each season only consisting of three episodes total), so while it’s technically a TV series, each episode feels like a feature film.

Often described as modern-day controversies and the uncertain future, Black Mirror tackles subjects like politics, technology, fame, and grief through the lens of fiction, leading to self-contained and independent episodes that are engrossing, terrifying and disgusting sometimes.
