Even when the year 2017 has not been of much help to the bollywood movies, there were certain ones which did exceptionally well in terms of the box office collections. Here we are talking about the biggest hits of the year and apparently they were franchise extensions or as we call them sequels. Since the start of the year their were high speculations about these movies, and boy, they delivered and how! Talking about the movies that did exceptionally well at the ticket windows, here is the list of top bollywood sequel, which ruled the year 2017 and turned out to be exceptionally well.
Baahubali 2: Directed by S.S. Rajamoul starred Akshay Kumar and i, Baahubali: The Conclusion is an epic sequel to the Baahubali: The Beginning. The film stars, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, Nassar, and Tamannaah in the lead roles and is one of the best movies ever made in Indian film industry. It released worldwide in April 2017 and became the highest grossing Hindi film ever with almost over 1706 crores collection overall.
Jolly LLB 2– This sequel to the Arshad Warsi 2013 film Jolly LLB starred Akshay Kumar in the lead along with Annu Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Saurabh Shukla in the pivotal roles. Directed by Subhash Kapoor, the movie is a poignant take on the condition of lawyers in the country. The film managed to garner 197 crores and is considered one of the best movies of Akshay’s career.
Judwaa 2- Varun Dhawan is almost unstoppable at the moment. Judwaa 2 which is Salman Khan’s 1997 sequel to Judwaa saw some amazing response from the audiences all over and give him the biggest hit of his life. Directed by David Dhawan and starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Tapsee Pannu, this bollywood sequel managed to garner 227 crores worldwide and was considered first big hit of the year 2017.
Golmaal Again– Marking the 10th collaboration of Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty, this Golmaal sequel was nothing short of out of the box surprise for the makers as well as for the critics. This new addition to the list of golmaal films featured Tabu, Parineeti Chopra and Neil Nitin Mukesh apart from the regular band of boys, Kunal Khemu, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade. The film collected more than Rs. 206 crores in India and the worldwide collection was around 309 crores.
Fukrey Returns- This Pulkit Samrat, Richa Chaddha and Varun Sharma starrer Fukrey Returns is the sequel to 2014 movie Fukrey. While the lifetime collection of the previous film was Rs. 36.50 crores, this latest hindi movie has already collected Rs. 32.30 crores over the weekend and will soon hit the 50 crores mark in the next week reportedly. Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, the movie is produced by produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
