Written by Varsha Pillai

After a week full of mundane humdrum, there’s no better way to unwind than to watch YouTube videos of your favorite stand-up comedians. Life’s definitely a mess, but life is definitely better with some comedy. These comedians are here with their 50 shades of sass, wit and rib-tickling humour!

Here’s a list of artists you must definitely watch out for (the list is made according to alphabetical order and nothing else):

Abish Mathew

A stand-up comedian, YouTube performer and motivational speaker, he is widely renowned for his work with All India Bakchod and as the host for his show, Son of Abish. He’s performed in over 1000+ shows across India and the world, including New York, Canada and the Utrecht International Comedy Festival (Netherland).

He’s also created content for brands like Breezer Vivid and ads for Netflix, apart from doing voice-overs and jingles.

Atul Khatri

The cool dad of Indian comedy, also known as the Horny Sindhi, is a veteran in the Indian comedy circuit.  He’s performed in a lot of private shows in the country and outside. He’s also performed under the comedy collective, East India Comedy and also performed in their special shows like ‘EIC Vs Bollywood’ and has also performed sketch comedy.

Biswa Kalyan Rath

Biswa’s comedy style which appeals to the intellect is a perfect combination of observation, mathematics, language and life! While he’s best known for his collaborations with fellow comic Kanan Gill in ‘Pretentions Movie Reviews’, he’s carved a unique place for himself in the world of stand-up with his special, ‘Biswa Mast Aadmi’.

Kanan Gill

He’s undoubtedly the cutest stand-up comedian in the country. More than that, he’s one of the most popular stand-up comedians with over 1000 shows in and outside the country. He shot to fame with ‘Pretentious Movie Reviews’ with Biswa Kalyan Rath. He’s also created a sketch comedy show called ‘How Insensitive!’ and his comedy show, Keep It Real received rave reviews.

Zakir Khan

He’s mastered the art of comic storytelling and his anecdotes have become slogans for the youth. His special act, ‘Haq Se Single’ had sold out shows to thousands. AIB founder Tanmay Bhat describes him as ‘The biggest stand-up comedy act in India. Period’. Over the last year, he has sold 50,000 tickets over 100 shows in clubs, colleges and arenas.
