After Udaan and Lootera, Vikramaditya Motwane has given us another masterpiece in the form of Trapped. Starring Raj Kumar Rao, Trapped is a story of a young man, Shaurya, who gets trapped in a flat and how he survives for almost a week without water, food and electricity in that high-rise flat in the heart of Mumbai. This latest released movie on the box office is all about Shaurya's fight for survival and his willingness to rise and shine. Very beautifully and convincingly, Vikramaditya confines his cinematic vision to a 1 Bhk flat this time.
Shaurya is a young man working in Mumbai and living in a flat shared by 4 flat mates with whom he has almost no connection. He has a girlfriend ( Geetanjali Thapa ) but his hand-to-mouth existence prevents him from marrying her. With the hopes and dreams of a better and happier future, he decides to rent out a flat where he can live with his girlfriend after marriage. Finally he zeroed in on a flat at the 35th floor of a deserted building, ironically named “Swarg”. He decides to shift there and little did he know that his first day in his new house will be the longest day of his life, as he accidentally locks himself in the apartment and gets trapped inside without food, water and electricity. And from here starts his journey of survival. Wondering how a person gets trapped just like that in a city like Mumbai? Well Vikramaditya has answers for all your queries.
Trapped is definitely one of the movies to watch this weekend! And the most compelling reason is of course Raj Kumar Rao. It's a solo act of the actor and he is shouldering the movie all by himself. Once again, the National Award winning actor brings us a compelling performance that keeps us on the edge of our seats till the very end. You feel his pain on screen. But more than pain, you want to empathize with his character. Equally brilliant is Siddharth Diwan’s camera. The camera angles invoke a sense of claustrophobia among the viewers.
This 103-minute long movie, sans interval, has been getting mostly good reviews from the masses as well as critics. Watch this stellar thriller if you have been craving for a “hatke” movie since a long time.
