Actor Kavi Kumar Azad from Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Passes Away

Actor Kavi Kumar Azad, best known for playing Dr. Hansraj Hathi on the popular Hindi comedy TV series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, succumbed to cardiac arrest on July 9th, 2018. He was 37 years old. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Kavi Kumar Azad played the chubby Dr. Hansraj Hathi from the famous Gokuldham Society and was a loved character on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, not only by the characters from the show but also the fans. He portrayed the role of Dr. Hathi for about eight years. He also featured in films like Aamir Khan’s Mela (2000) and Funt2shh (2003). Born on May 12, 1981, Kavi Kumar was 37 when he suffered from the fatal heart attack. He was rushed to Wockhardt
Hospital, Mumbai after he complained of discomfort. Unfortunately, he was announced dead on arrival.

While the actor who plays Jethalal on the show, Dilip Joshi, said that he is in London, the show’s producer Asit Kumarr Modi released a statement about the late actor. He says:

“We are very sad to inform loss of our senior actor Kavi Kumar Azad. He was playing the character of Dr Hathi in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. We lost him to a massive cardiac arrest today morning. He was an amazing actor and a very positive person. He truly Loved the show and always came for the shoot even if he was not feeling well. He called today morning that he is not well and will not be able to come for shoot. And later we got the news that he passed away. We are all too numb to say anything.”
