The first look of Netflix India’s first original show, Sacred Games is out and the look surely generates curiosity. The show is based on Vikram Chandra’s critically acclaimed eponymous novel which spiders around the worlds of organized crime, local politics and Indian espionage that lurk beneath the surface of India’s economic renaissance. The show stars Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Saif Ali Khan plays the role of a turbaned cop, Sartaj Singh. In the first look, Saif’s turbaned avatar wears a police uniform and he holds a gun while his face and hands are bloodied. He happens to be in a dingy basement ready to prey on the bad guys. Radhika Apte dons the role of RAW analyst Anjali Mathur and in the first look, she appears to be in a pensive mood.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays the role of gangster Ganesh Gaitonde. He appears to let out a slight smile while staring at his image in the mirror. The show will be in both Hindi and English and would be shot in India and released worldwide via Netflix. Sacred Games would be directed by both Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane.
This series would mark both Saif Ali Khan’s and Anurag Kashyap’s debut into the digital platform. Talking about the upcoming series, Saif Ali Khan told the media, “Vikramaditya Motwane is comparing us to House of Cards. It is going to be the best show coming out of India and I am hopeful everyone will be proud of it.”
