Over the years, rumors have surfaced about the relationship between the stars of the smash hit TV show, Sex and the City (1998-2004) being far from rosy. Recently, the rumors have proved to be true with Kim Cattrall’s rant over her co-star Sarah Jessica Parker’s condolences.

Sarah Jessica Parker’s post on social media read like this, “’Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother”. Parker’s post came in response to Cattrall’s announcement over the death of her younger brother, Chris Cattrall.

This seemingly supportive message unleashed a brutal attack of words by Cattrall. She posted on her Instagram page:

The relationship between the two actresses in real life is a stark contrast in comparison to their characters on the show. There were times during filming of the show when Kim Cattrall was isolated by her co-stars on the show, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis. Except for the scripted lines the characters spoke in the show, the actresses gave Kim the silent treatment for much of the 15-hour filming schedules.

The ‘mean girl’ antics extended to the three actresses excluding Kim from lunches and staying in different hotels. The reason for the hostility was about who had the greater say in the show. Sarah Jessica Parker spearheaded the show from the very beginning, got better pay hikes and later even became an executive editor for the show, much to Kim Cattrall’s chagrin.

The relationship between Kim Cattrall and her co-stars soured to the extent where she decided to turn her back on the third installment of the wildly successful spin-off films of this franchise back in 2016.
