Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor are back together again, three years after their last movie venture Aashiqui 2. This time they’ll be seen sharing the screen space in Shaad Ali’s OK Jaanu. The movie preview for OK Jaanu recently hit YouTube, and the sizzling chemistry between the lead pair is definitely refreshing to watch. That aside, the movie seems to find itself surrounded by a shroud of controversy.
OK Jaanu first raised a lot of eyebrows when it was declared that the movie would be a remake of the Tamil hit O Kadhal Kanmani which was directed by Mani Ratnam. The Tamil movie was a super-hit and enjoys a lot of popularity down south. The Twitter world was divided in their opinion over OK Jaanu, with many fans loyal to O Kadhal Kanmani writing the movie off. But none the less the OK Jaanu movie preview received a fairly good response from the audience.
Now it seems that the soundtrack of the movie finds itself embroiled in controversy. Three songs from the movie have released so far, with two of them receiving mixed response from the audience and a lot of different opinions from the world of Twitter.
The first song that hit the markets was Humma Humma, a remake of the old classic song of the same name from Bombay. The new version is slower, but still retains some of the older beats and music. The song has been remixed by none other than Badshah and features a rap verse by the Indian rapper. A lot of people were unappreciative of the changes made to the song, especially the nineties kids who grew up listening to the original. While the song may have received mixed response, the visuals have been appreciated by all. Both Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapoor showcase mind bending moves that are bound to raise the temperature of your screens.
The other is the title song OK Jaanu which is a youthful number by A.R. Rahman himself and feels like a breath of fresh air. But the song hasn’t been able to escape comparisons to Mental Manadhil, the Tamil counter part of the song.
It’s safe to say that the bollywood movie has managed to create a lot of social buzz in a short span. Hopefully the hype will last till the movie hits the big screen.
