When we talk about the DC and Marvel franchises, there is this ever lasting clash we face between the universes and characters. With the Justice League movie releasing this November, it was not surprising having a stand-alone movie of one of the most powerful beings in the team; Wonder Woman a.k.a. Diana Prince. This valiant, strong hearted princess of the Amazons is played by Gal Gadot , who reprises her role after Batman v/s Superman: Dawn Of Justice which released back in 2016. This vivid and inspiring comic-book spectacle is directed by Patty Jenkins and written by Zack Snyder. We say let Batman gather a team, let Superman sleep after his last clash with Doomsday. We would love to see just the right justice served to the world, from this lady and from her perspective.
Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, Princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. This little girl has a Ganesha origin story told by her mother – of being crafted from clay and given life by Zeus, an ancient Greek God. Raised on a sheltered island paradise Themyscira, which exists within some sort of time displacement or alternate dimension and is moving, is faced by a human threat when a British pilot crashes on their shores. To put a face to her childhood stories, Diana thinks of the Nazis’ leader as Ares (the ancient Greek God of Destruction) and when told of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat.
The attempts of Diana and Steve at trying to understand each other’s worlds has given the film its many moments of light-hearted chuckles. The romance brought a breezy freshness to the genre, a love story you genuinely would want to ship. On the other hand, fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, Diana discovers her full powers and her true destiny, discovering she herself is the mythical 'Godkiller' weapon. To address all you action junkies, the stunt choreography is one of the finest we have witnessed in the DCEU. And as it turns out, women fighting with swords, cutting up bodies, hanging from cliffs, throwing lassos and shooting arrows looks far more glorious than men doing that in the popular TV show Game Of Thrones.
With all this high action and an unreal climax, we just can't wait to watch the next Wonder Woman adventure. Here is a film about about the importance of war and peace, knowledge and courage and about a young woman who can fight the German army all alone and be charmed by a small baby placed in a cradle at the side of the road. We won't say it was the best CGI work used in the movie but it will surely leave your mind blown to pieces for sure. If you find the DC Universe better than the Marvel Universe and want to fanboy over this latest English movie in front of your colleagues, get your tickets on BookMyShow and have the time of your life.
