10 Best Pop-Culture Movies – 2016 Edition

2016 has been a great year for all the fanboys and fangirls out there. If you are a pop culture fanatic and Comic Cons are your Christmas, then this has definitely been your year. With some major releases and some much-awaited reboots, 2016 will be one year forever etched in our memories. The hardcore-gamers got a chance to see some epic games played out on the big screen (whether they are any good is yet to be decided). We also returned to our beloved Jungle with Jungle Book (that movie made us happy enough to give Shere Khan a hug) and there were some magical surprises along the way, too. Let's not waste any more time and get down to list the best of 2016.

Captain America: Civil War
We are calling this the unofficial Avengers movie and anyone who disagrees, we can settle it at a secluded airport. Not only did this movie have all our favorites but it maintained the balance between action and emotion.

The first Marvel R-rated superhero movie, it had us in splits with fourth-wall breaks and just antics in general. Ryan Reynolds was truly born for this role.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
To be honest, we weren't sure about this one as we didn't want to tarnish our memories of the magical world. But J.K. Rowling does it again by just expanding the world and making it more magical.

Rogue One – A Star Wars Story
Talking about expanded universes, another franchise stepped away from the normal and tried something new. With enough nostalgic factors, this was a definite highlight of the year.

Star Trek Beyond
Spock and Captain Kirk are ancient favorites, and we are loving the direction this franchise is going in and can't wait for some more action.

Finding Dory
Adorable absent-minded Dory stole our hearts 13 years ago. To see her return was a childhood fantasy come true for all of us, and we loved this comeback.

Kung Fu Panda 3
Po meets more Po-like creatures. They could not go wrong with this scenario and they didn't.

Jungle Book
When old classics meet new technology, this is the result. Although our love for 'Bare Necessities' is more than necessary, we did miss the classic "Jungle jungle pata chala hai".

Doctor Strange
Marvel and Benedict Cumberbatch make a powerful partnership and we hope to see much more of this. But not before the Season 4 of Sherlock releases. (We have waited long enough.)

X-Men: Apocalypse
This franchise doesn't seem to see the end, they keep inventing alternate timelines and introducing younger characters. Not that we are complaining.
