The Great Indian October Fest
has always had something for everyone. Whether you love Heavy Metal, Electronica or Fusion music, you can rely on TGIOF to offer something! On the occasion of the festival’s 10th year, let’s take a look back at 10 of the most memorable TGIOF
Maya – Indian Ocean
As much as we love the studio version of Maya, very few things can top the live renditions of the song. Not only is this one of our favorite TGIOF performances of all time, but it’s also one of the top 10 live performances by the band!
Hey Bhagwan – The Raghu Dixit Project
Every performance of Hey Bhagwan has been remarkable. Though it’s been four years since this performance, it still never ceases to amaze us! Doesn’t that say a lot about how memorable this performance is?
Carnival of Rust – Poets of the Fall
The crowd and their reactions at a concert can make or break the entire performance. Poets of the Fall’s set at TGIOF 2011 is the perfect example of this! The stellar music, combined with the crowd’s enthusiasm, made for one of the most memorable TGIOF performances of all time!
Codeine – Little Babooshka’s Grind
2011 was a great year for TGIOF, as is obvious from Little Babooshka’s Grind’s set. Though we loved Open the Vibration, their performance of Codeine has got to be one of our all-time favorites!
Consolers of the Lonely – The Fringe Pop
Covers are rarely as good as the originals. However, The Fringe Pop managed to capture the essence of The Racounters’ gritty tune at TGIOF 2012! This combined with the crowd’s energy makes this performance an unforgettable one!
Jupiter Cafe – Thermal and a Quarter
Think of everything you love about a band, multiply it by 10 and then get to experience it live! This is exactly what TAAQ’s TGIOF performance was like. Just when we thought the song couldn’t get any better!
Duniya – Lagori
Much like the studio recording, Lagori’s performance of Duniya never cease to amaze us. After all, it’s not everyday that a song manages to incorporate the right amount of rock and soulfulness. The performance at TGIOF 2012 amplified everything we love about the tune, making it the perfect addition to this list!
The Mourner – De Profundis
Metalheads can attest to the fact this is a performance that’s hard to forget. Not only did the performance make heads bang, but it also incorporated a melodic element that is rarely seen in Death Metal!
Rock & Roll – Junkyard Groove
Once you’ve watched their set at TGIOF, it’s glaringly clear why they’re called Junkyard "Groove". Their performance strikes the right balance between mellow and energetic, making it unforgettable!
Rudra – Agam
TGIOF has always featured the best of Fusion music. It’s no surprise that one of their most memorable performances is by Agam. Rudra, which perfectly bridges the gap between Indian and Western music, is even better.
