10 TV shows you can binge-watch this weekend

No one can escape Netflix culture, not even a country that doesn’t have Netflix. Though waiting for new episodes of our favorite TV shows might be fun, it can also be annoying. This is especially painful if you happen to like TV shows that end every episode with a cliffhanger.

Let’s face it, we all love binge-watching. As fate would have it, we’re going to have to resort to it more often when the rains make us stay indoors. If you’re not sure where to start, look no further. Here are 10 TV shows we think you can binge-watch this weekend. We’ve also listed the number of hours you need to dedicate to it, if you want to work your sleep schedule around it. And of course, how could we forget the excruciating wait, AKA the number of months until the next season. It’s all right here:

Sense8
Episodes: 12 | Hours: 12 | Wait until: June 2016

One of Netflix’s newest original presentations, Sense8 follows eight people across the globe, as they discover a mental and emotional connection to each other. These "sensates" must then come to terms with their newfound identities, all while being hunted by a mysterious group. Though Sense8 gets off to a relatively slow start, things pick up, and how! The action is par excellence, and you will feel a connection to the characters as if you’re a sensate too! If you can manage to stop watching mid-episode, you’re a stronger person than us!

Orphan Black
Episodes: 30 | Hours: 22.5 | Wait until: April 2016

Clones, conspiracies and chaos unite in an epic blend of sci-fi, action and drama. When Sarah Manning discovers that she isn’t as unique as she liked to think, she is pulled into a world of crime, lies and deceit. Her only saving grace in this mess? Her "sisters". You will find it hard to look away as the clones go about their daily lives, while seeking out the truth about their existence and their enemies.

Sherlock
Episodes: 9 (11, including specials) | Hours: 13.5 (14.5, including specials) | Wait until: 2017

One of the finest recent portrayals of the greatest fictional detective of all time, Sherlock is a riveting mini-series that will leave you awestruck. A series that’s as visually stunning as it is engaging, Sherlock has another advantage as well. It’s practically made for binge-watching. The only bad thing about it? You have to wait for (at least) a couple of years for the next season.

Empire
Episodes: 12 | Hours: 8.5 | Wait until: March 2016

What happens when a music mogul is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness? You can find the answer in Empire. A stunning series about music, family and power; it explores power play and politics in the Lyon family. Add some foot-tapping melodies to the mix, and you have a glorious show that demands to be watched. With its smooth melodies and impeccable acting, Empire takes the concept of a binge-watchable show to a whole new level.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Episodes: 12 | Hours: 6 | Wait until: March 2016

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is absurd. In fact, it’s so absurd that it’s downright delightful. The show follows Kimmy, who has been living in a bunker for the last 15 years, because she was conned into thinking that the world has ended. The series chronicles her rescue, and her attempt to adjust to everyday life. The laugh riot that also manages to be serious and poignant, while cracking you up. What more could we ask for?

Satisfaction
Episodes: 10 | Hours: 7.5 | Wait until: July 2015

When Neil Truman discovers that his wife is having an affair, his whole life is turned upside-down… But not in the way you might think. Upon finding out that his wife’s lover is an escort, Neil figures out that the profession might not be too bad for him either. What follows is a whirlwind affair of love, lust and lies. And soon, Neil is in over his head. This exploration of marriage and unconventional lifestyles is sharp, witty and entertaining.

Fresh Off the Boat
Episodes: 13 | Hours: 5 | Wait until: February 2016

Looking to kick back and relax this weekend? Fresh Off the Boat is your best bet! The show follows a Taiwanese family trying to settle into their new home – Florida. The show, which takes place in the ’90s, is going to give you a major throwback to the glorious decade! Right from the music to the costumes, get ready to take a walk down memory lane. This witty comedy will make it hard for you to watch just one episode at a time.

Married

Episodes: 10 | Hours: 24 | Wait until: July 2015

Married follows two best friends as they try to save their respective marriages. This, of course, is easier said than done. Chaos and confusion ensue on this roller-coaster ride of comedy. The beauty of the show lies in its marvellous interpretation of the most ordinary incidents. Anyone can make action, crime and drama engaging; but it takes a special skill set to make something mundane this interesting!

Orange is the New Black

Episodes: 39 | Hours: 36 | Wait until: June 2016

Okay, you might not be able to watch all of Orange is the New Black in one weekend, but you can always start! Based on a true story, the series is an engaging look at what goes on behind bars. Comedy, drama, thrill… You name it, and this show has it! With its diverse cast, plethora of talent and some truly remarkable backstories, this is a show that must be consumed one season at a time!

Broad City

Episodes: 22 | Hours: 7 | Wait until: January 2016

Whether you like them or not, bro comedies are prevalent on the big screen and the small screen. Broad City is a refreshing take on the classic formula. It takes everything good about bro comedies, adds in a dash of feminism and a solid plot to taste. The result? A show that you will binge-watch AND re-watch! Don’t miss Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer’s adventures in the Big Apple. You will regret it if you do.

So, take your pick and make the most of your time indoors this monsoon. We’ve got you covered for at least 10 weekends!
