As we look back at 2016 and how cinema has evolved this year, we are nothing but glad. We saw Indian cinema grow by leaps and bounds this year, giving us several gems not just in Bollywood but in regional cinema, too. However, there were a few films this year that we were particularly excited for. These films consisted of some of our favorite stars, were directed by some of the most famous directors and were produced by some of the largest production houses of the country. However, despite all the hullabaloo surrounding these films, they failed to live up to the hype.
Here are a few films of 2016 that did not win over our hearts, much to our disappointment.
Baar Baar Dekho
When the trailer of Baar Baar Dekho came out, we were as excited as ever. The film had a very contemporary vibe with what seems like a unique storyline. However, the more unique a storyline, the more difficult the task of putting it on screen for the audience to understand, and this is exactly where the film fell short.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Probably one of 2016s most awaited films, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had all the elements of a typical Karan Johar film, but did not really win over many hearts.
Introducing two talented faces into the industry, the film’s first look seemed like one epic story, although the final result did not really go down well with the audience.
Rock On 2
Rock On was a classic that became a hit and forged an instant connection with the youth. There were huge expectations from Rock On 2, but it failed to recreate the magic.
Tabu, Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapur seemed like one hell of an interesting cast for a film set in the valleys of Kashmir. But the film did not live up to the initial hype.
Hrithik's last film was Bang Bang in 2014 and coming after a long gap, Mohenjo Daro was supposed to be the film that would redeem Hrithik's slowing career. But clearly, that was not the case, as the film did not make an impact on the audience.
