The south Indian film industry sensation Trisha Krishnan, who has been ruling the industry for the past 15 years, celebrates her birthday today. The only child to her parents, Trisha graduated from Ethiraj College, Chennai. At a very young age, she won a number of competitions. She was crowned Miss Salem in 1999, Miss Chennai in 2000 and Miss Beautiful Smile in 2001.
It is interesting to note that the actress first made her on-screen debut as a supporting actress in the movie Jodi in the year 1999 which starred Prashanth and Simran in the lead. She was then signed on by ace director and remake king Priyadarshan for the movie Lesa Lesa (2002) opposite Shaam. This film is the Tamil remake of the Malayalam movie Summer in Bethlehem (1998) directed by Priyadarshan himself. However, the release of Lesa Lesa was delayed and she made her debut with Mounam Pesiyadhe.
After making her debut as a lead actress in the 2002 movie Mounam Pesiyadhe opposite the Kollywood heartthrob Suriya (who refuses to age), Trisha gradually made her presence felt in the south Indian film fraternity.
With back-to-back super hit movies like Saamy (2003), Ghilli (2004), Athadu (2005), Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005) Trisha quickly emerged as one of the top south Indian actresses. Having already acted in the top three film industries down south – Kollywood, Tollywood, and Sandalwood – Trisha is all set to make her Malayalam aka Mollywood debut with the movie Hey Jude opposite the current Malayalam movie star Nivin Pauly. Directed by Shyamaprasad, Hey Jude will be one of the most-awaited movies of 2017. Will the fans like this pairing? Will this be the new hit pair? Guess we will have to wait and watch!
In an industry where actresses have a short shelf-life, Trisha has completed 15 years and she shows no trace of slowing down with the number of projects. She has already signed a couple of movies for this year. Her line up for the year 2017 includes Mohini opposite
The actress has done a single film in Bollywood titled Khatta Meetha (2010) opposite our own Khiladi Akshay Kumar. This was almost seven years back and this movie even earned her a Filmfare Nomination for Best Female Debut.
With such a great debut in Hindi films, we wonder when the actress will sign more Bollywood projects.
From a beauty queen to ruling the south cinema, Trisha has come a long way. With the number of amazing projects lined up for the actress, she may be called the Queen of 2017 soon.
The talented, beautiful, hard-working and super-busy actress – we wish Trisha a very happy birthday!
