4 South Indian films Shot in Kashmir

 One one of the key parameters for shooting for a film is picking an appropriate location for the film’s story. Over the years, filmmakers have used the backdrop of beautiful locations to increase the visual appeal of a scene or a song. One of the most preferred locations for the film fraternity is the beautiful state of Kashmir. Kashmir boasts of several picturesque locations that seem like paradise on earth. We bring a list of popular South Indian films that were shot in Kashmir.

Imagine having a team of 50 army men guarding you during the shoot of a film! Well, that’s exactly what the team of Wagah encountered during the shoot of the film. Director GNR Kumaravelan shot in the busy streets of Kashmir. Starring Vikram Prabhu and Renya Rao, the film it is set against the backdrop of a cross-border romance between an Indian army officer and a Pakistani girl.
Mani Ratnam and Karthi’s untitled film
After much delay, Mani Ratnam is all set to begin his new film with Karthi in the lead. And sources tell us that the film will be shot in Kashmir. If permission to shoot in certain areas is denied, then the director might shoot the film in Himachal Pradesh. It has to be noted that Mani Ratnam’s film Roja, was shot in and around Shimla, and was passed off as Kashmir. 
Ram Charan’s untitled film
Ram Charan is all set to star in the remake of the superhit Tamil film, Thani Oruvan, which is to be directed by Surender Reddy. The team will shoot some important songs and sequences in the Kashmir valley. 
Iru Mugan
Directed by Anand Shankar of the Arima Nambi fame, Iru Mugan, starring Vikram, has been partially shot in Kashmir. The team is said to have shot in the cold. One scene even involved Vikram and Nayanthara standing in a speeding vehicle (open roof vehicle) and face the chilly winds. The film is set to release in July 2016.
