If you are feeling a sudden rush in your adrenaline levels after watching John Wick 2 over the weekend, then you then you are in the right place. There’s something uber cool and badass about a hitman in movies. The cocking of the gun followed by a series of headshots and sleek action sequences make up for a kickass cinematic experience for all the action buffs. These amoral and ruthless killers have always been part of cinema and while some of them really didn't carve out their name, some of them graced us with their presence on the big screen. We take a look at 5 such badass Hitmen who are forever etched in our minds.
John – John Wick
Keanu Reeves is no alien to action movies (read Matrix) but to portray a revengeful, menacing hitman in the form of John Wick was something else entirely. Not only the then 49-year-old actor performed his own stunts, but he also did them gracefully. Seems like Keanu was born to be John.
Vincent – Collateral
Tom Cruise shed his typical action hero in Michael Mann’s 2004 thriller, and instead gave us a cold, resolute and utterly unrepentant killer. The movie was later adapted in Bollywood (The Killer), with Irrfan Khan playing the role of the infamous assassin. It wasn’t as compelling as the original but was a decent attempt nevertheless.
The bride – Kill Bill
The bride a.k.a Black Mamba from Kill Bill, proves more than her incredible prowess over the course of Quentin Tarantino’s two-part martial arts epic. The films are stylishly violent and gory and it’s Uma Thurman’s vengeful Bride who is at the center of much of this bloodshed.
Anton Chigurh – No Country For Old Men
Anton Chigurh, played by Javier Bardem, may not be the most inconspicuous of hitmen, but his stone-cold look, emotionless demeanor is unequaled. Once he has a job to do, there’s no stopping him which basically means ‘Ek baar jo maine commitment kar di, us ke baad toh mein khud ki bhi nahi sunta’.
Chev Chelios – Crank
Hitmen are usually known for the silent approach, slow and meticulous planning but Chev Chelios, played by Jason Statham, believes otherwise. Not only he opts for ‘all-guns-blazing’ philosophy by barging into a room and killing his targets in the most extreme ways possible but also believes in doing anything or anyone to keep himself alive.
