Fall Out Boy
Thnks Fr Th Mmrs, even though they weren’t so great.
Never before has a song lyric foreshadowed the band’s fate so perfectly. One of the band’s biggest hits has also become the song to describe them. Though we’ve all (secretly) enjoyed a song or two by Fall Out Boy before, we could’ve done without their last two albums. It’s too late for them to go out on top, but it’s never too late to call it quits.
Don’t get us wrong. We love The Who. They’re the band that quite literally defined a "Generation"! But when it’s time to hang up the boots, it just is. So, how do you judge this? Well, when half the original personnel has departed, that might be a good time to stop. Very few things can tarnish a band’s legacy like going on for too long.
Whether or not they admit it, everyone has a soft spot for Lynyrd Skynyrd. But things just haven’t been the same after the unfortunate plane crash. It seemed understandable that the band needed a decade-long hiatus after they lost three of their members. In fact, we would’ve been perfectly alright if we had to settle for Greatest Hits albums and solo projects after that. But the band lived on. The sad part? This was the life of someone barely surviving on life support.
Yes, they still exist; and no, you haven’t missed out on much. When they first rose to fame, Judas Priest became instant fashion icons and even set a metal revival into motion. Unfortunately, the band never really recovered from their four-year hiatus. And things got progressively worse after 2005’s Angel of Retribution. The band’s latest album, Redeemer of Souls, is certainly a step-up from their recent work. This is exactly why there’s no better time to quit than the present.
If there’s a recurring theme we’re seeing here, it’s hiatuses. When Blink-182 went on an "indefinite hiatus", even their biggest fans were okay with it. After all, it had been 6 years since they’d put out a semi-decent record. To make matters worse, Tom DeLonge‘s religious awakening seemed to affect everything around the band. Suffice it to say we aren’t too impressed!
