Bollywood actresses are known for their superb performances in Hindi movies and their skill to emote and grab the attention of the audience. Be it with their power to emote or with their incredible dance moves, they know what to do. They have not only impressed Bollywood fans but they have left an impression on South cinema fans too. Did you know that Bollywood's top actresses like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and many others have acted in South Indian films? They have been much loved by the fans down South as well and fans, we are sure, would love for these beautiful ladies to work more in the South industry. So, here are five current Bollywood stars who have also acted in south films.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
The former Miss World made her acting debut with the Mani Ratnam-directed Tamil movie Iruvar (1997) opposite Mohanlal. In 1998, she signed a blockbuster hit Tamil movie titled Jeans, which was the most expensive Indian film to be made at that time. Directed by Shankar, Jeans was not the only Tamil film to be offered by Shankar to Aishwarya. The director signed her to be part of the Rajinikanth-starrer Enthiran (2010). Apart from these, she also acted in the movie Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000) alongside South movie stars like Ajith Kumar, Mammootty and Abbas. With so many popular and hit South movies to her credit, we wonder what is stopping the actress from doing some more.
Before she played the role of a knife-throwing huntress in the action – thriller movie xXx: Return Of The Xander Cage and even before she became one of the top-paid actresses of the country, Deepika was just a young debutante with hopes and dreams like many others. Many of us might not know that Om Shanti Om (2007) was not her first film, it was the 2006-released Kannada movie Aishwarya opposite Upend
PeeCee, touted as India’s first big global star began her acting career with the Tamil movie Thamizhan (2002) opposite Vijay. With the number of Hollywood film offers coming her way, we sure hope she can manage some time for her South Indian fans.
Katrina’s Bollywood debut Boom (2003) was a dud, we all know that. The actress after her debut went down South and acted in the Telugu movie Malliswari (2004) opposite Victory Venkatesh. She later did two South movies – Allari Pidugu (2005) and the Malayalam movie Balram vs Tharadas (2006).
The actress known for her crazy dance moves made her South film debut with the film Lingaa opposite the Thalaivaa in 2014. We hope the fate Lingaa suffered at the box-office does not deter the actress from taking up more projects.
