Are you one of those people who thinks that stories could only be enjoyed more in an episodic format but don't have enough time to sit through seasons of episodes? Don't worry. Mini-series are created just for people like you. They should not be confused with limited series as the terms are not interchangeable.
A miniseries doesn't have more than one season and is required to be more than six hours in length or about two or more episodes. There can be no cliffhanger since there won't be any continuation. The last year saw some amazing mini-series like The Night Manager, Roots, and The Night Of. If you are in dire need of some entertainment fix but don't want to commit to a television series, here are some mini-series you can catch up this year.
This eight-episode series is what you can call the Avengers of New York. We have seen them battling their own devils and it will be super fun to see the Defenders team up as they take on The Hand. If you are a Marvel fan, this is something you should not miss. For the others, Netflix hasn't gone wrong with any of their original shows yet. That should help you give this one a shot.
This three-episode British mini-series should not be watched if you are planning on taking a maternity leave anytime soon. Otherwise, this drama is the perfect way to spend an evening. It is a story of Ellen who is planning to go on a maternity leave and is training her replacement, Paula. All is well until Paula starts taking over Ellen's professional life and personal too. All the three episodes have already been released if you find the plot exciting.
This mini-series is all set to take you back to the 70's as you witness a team of activists waging a war. The series boasts a spectacular cast like Idris Elba, Frieda Pinto, and Babou Ceesay. This six-episode mini-series will be releasing this April.
Big Little Lies
Based on the novel of the same name, this mini-series revolves around three mothers and how their lives intertwine with each other. Starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley, this would certainly be a nail-biting watch as it also involves murder. And unlike Pretty Little Liars, you don't have to wait forever for the big reveal.
This mini-series is a sequel to the popular series of the same name. The story is set seven years after the incidents of the last season. This time the prison is located in Yemen. Let's see how our legendary heroes get out of this one.
Another project that is still in development and we might see by the end of the year is the second revival of The Twilight Zone. Which of these will you catch up with first? Tell us in the comments below and don't forget to share.
