Bollywood love stories have always been dreamy. They leave a smile on our faces with their passionate plots and happy endings. But if we trade our hopelessly romantic mindset for a practical one, most of these stories will seem absurd and too much to digest. And if we see to it, many of the leading men and women were not really worth all the efforts. No, we are not saying that we do not love our romantic dramas, but sometimes when you leave the theatre, you actually start thinking about how you'd have preferred the girl ending up with the other guy or vice versa. If you cannot recall any of those instances, here we have five examples where the lead ended with the wrong partner.
Datto, Tanu Weds Manu Returns
So Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) left her husband at a mental asylum and went back home to flirt with her ex-boyfriend and a bunch of other guys. Then she found out that Manu (R. Madhavan) is getting married to a girl who looks similar to her and she goes to the wedding to create more drama. Ultimately, Manu comes back to Tanu leaving Datto (again Kangana Ranaut) at almost the last minute of the wedding. Like, seriously? Don't you think Datto was more independent, sensible and loving than Tanu? Actually, she deserved a guy better than Manu…but still.
Mohini, Happy New Year
Throughout the movie, Charlie (Shah Rukh Khan) keeps insulting Mohini (Deepika Padukone) by calling her cheap. Not once, twice but one time too many. Apart from the fact that this was a three-hour long awful movie, it was also pretty sexist. But Mohini still swoons over Charlie because he can speak English. Wow! Mohini should have just left him after the dance competition.
Sandhya, Dum Laga Ke Haisha
Prem (Ayushmann Khurrana) insulted Sandhya (Bhumi Pednekar) in front of his friends for being fat and ignored her at home. He never treated her properly just because of her weight, which makes him a loser in addition to being uneducated. She still stuck with him throughout the race. She should have left him after the race.
Reena, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein
This film is referred as "the" romantic film of 90s. But for all those who love the film do realise that Maddy (R. Madhavan) pretended to be somebody else and when he was caught he threatened people. Reena (Dia Mirza) still fell for him. Ideally, Reena should have married Rajeev (Saif Ali Khan) and should have left the imposter-stalker person alone.
Nandini (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) didn't want to marry Vanraj (Ajay Devgn). Vanraj being a nice guy takes her to unite with her first love. She throws tantrums and has no chill throughout the trip and yet when he leaves her with Sameer (Salman Khan), the love of her life, she goes back to Vanraj because she realizes what true love is. Like, make up your mind woman! Don't you think Vanraj deserved a better woman who would stick with him and to her words?
