Happy Birthday Ranvir Shorey!

There are actors who are known for their stardom and there are actors who are known for their skills, Ranvir Shorey is one of the latter. He is known for his comic timing and versatile acting. A former VJ, host and judge of The Great Indian Comedy Show, Ranvir debuted in the industry through Ek Chotisi Love Story (2002) and has acted in more than 35 movies since then. He has been critically appreciated for his performances in almost all the films he has done so far.

As he celebrates his 44th birthday today let’s look at the top five movies from the lot, which you cannot afford to miss:

Mithya - BookMyShow
The film is about VK, played by Ranvir Shorey, a low-key actor with big dreams. The story takes turn when he is asked by police to impersonate a look-alike gangster, Raje. His role is extremely varied and requires adjustment at every other moment. He goes straight from scared to romantic, funny to heart-breaking effortlessly without going over the top even once. Winning sympathy is hard when audiences are busy chortling but Ranvir makes your heart go out for VK. A must watch for sure.

Bheja Fry
Bheja Fry - BookMyShow
The film is all about the funny. Ranvir plays an income tax officer who is also a singer, a cricket lover and a goof up king. He makes the title apt for the movie by annoying Ranjit (Rajat Kapoor) to the limits. This is another movie with the comedy duo Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey together, making is a movie you wouldn’t like to miss if you love good comedy.

Titli - BookMyShow
Titli is the story of a family of carjackers who get their youngest member of the family to add a female member to their gang. Shorey plays the eldest brother of three siblings, who is threatened of being slapped with a lawsuit by his estranged wife. This is a totally different kind of character for an actor who is known for his comedy. His violence in the movie is the most corrosive yet heart-breaking.

Khosla Ka Ghosla
Khosla Ka Ghosla - BookMyShow
The film is about a middle-class family whose land is unfairly snatched by a businessman and real estate baron named Khurana, played brilliantly by Boman Irani. Ranvir plays Balwant aka Bunty, a cocky, good-for-nothing high school dropout son to Kamal Khosla (Anupam Kher) and has pulled of the bash brat with an earthy accent and fast-talking attitude, which is too smooth to miss. Needless to say, the movie is hilarious.

Ugly Aur Pagli
Ugly Aur Pagli - BookMyShow
An atypical romantic comedy, the movie is about an engineering student (Ranvir Shorey) whose life changes after he rescues an intoxicated girl (Mallika Sherawat) from a railway station. Ranvir plays a submissive role in this and proves that he is an actor any director can totally depend upon. As it is said – it takes an extremely intelligent actor to play dumb so well.

Other films in the list can be Pyaar Ke Side Effects, Bajatey Raho and Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd., where the only thing you will complain about is his limited screen space.

You are an incredible actor, Ranvir, and we always look forward to your amazing performances. We wish you a very happy birthday and an amazing career in the film industry.

Happy birthday, Ranvir!
