2016 started with a bang in Kollywood. Rajini Murugan, Irudhi Suttru, Kathakali scored big, while director Bala’s Thaarai Thappatai gained critical acclaim. Tamil audience went on to witness other interesting films like Aarathu Sinam and Kanithan. Apart from a slew of releases every week, Tamil film-makers are also busy launching new projects. These newly launched films may not be as big as director Shankar’s 2.0, but they are films with a promising cast and crew. Vishal, who has wrapped up his film Marudhu, has moved on to new projects. And, he’s not the only actor to do so. Let’s look at some recently announced projects.
1. Sivakarthikeyan and Mohan Raja
With his film Thani Oruvan turning out to be a blockbuster, Mohan Raja is one of the most wanted directors in Kollywood. The ace director has teamed up with Kollywood’s rising star, Sivakarthikeyan for a new film. Produced by RD Raja of 24AM, the film’s music is likely to be composed by Hiphop Tamizha, and the shoot will begin once Sivakarthikeyan wraps up the shoot of his magnum opus project, Remo.
2. Simbu and Vijay Chander
After wrapping up a final song sequence in Idhu Namma Aalu, Simbu has moved on to his new project. The actor is now teaming up with the team of Vaalu. Directed by Vijay Chander, this film is likely to be a remake of a popular Telugu film. Official details are yet to be disclosed.
3. Vishal and Mysskin
After wrapping up his film Marudhu, and opening declaring a statement that he isn’t a part of Sandakozhi 2, Vishal has geared up for a new project. He has teamed up with popular director Mysskin for his next. The film is touted to be a fantasy drama.
4. Vijay Sethupathi and K. V. Anand
Earlier it was reported that Arya or Jiiva might be playing the lead roles in director K. V. Anand’s new film. However, all rumors were put to rest when the director took to his social media page and broke the news of the cast. The director has teamed up with Vijay Sethupathi and T. R. Rajendran for his new film. This is certainly an interesting cast.
5. G. V. Prakash – M. Rajesh
Director M. Rajesh is known for making comedies, and Santhanam is an integral part of all his films. Now, the director has roped in a new cast. He has teamed up with music composer-turned-actor G.V. Prakash for his latest. The film also stars Nikki Galrani and RJ Balaji.
