Films with a ‘message’ have always formed an integral part of our society. People laud and applaud films that inspire them but we seldom think about the success stories of the actors that inspire us on screen. Amidst all the fame and glory, we forget that these actors too had their own struggles. While some were born with a silver spoon, many were not as privileged and treaded a rough road to success. Here, we take a look or rather a lesson from these well-known actors who have inspired us to never give up despite hardships.
Nawazuddin may be sizzling the silver screen with his power-packed performances and in the process gaining the moolah but not very long ago, he wasn’t quite the toast of the town. He grew up in a farmer’s family with eight siblings in Uttar Pradesh. At one point when he was broke, asked his senior if he could stay with him and in return he would cook meals for him. The actor has also worked as a chemist and a watchman. It was in the late 90s that he got his Bollywood break and while he still had to work hard to get noticed, he finally managed to make an impression to last.
We all love Akki for his diverse roles in films. From being stereotyped as an action-hero to a comedian in films like Hera Pheri, we all have come to accept the fact that he is as versatile as an actor can get. Much before he tasted success in B-town, this award-winning performer was a waiter and dishwasher in Bangkok. Barely surviving on a meagre salary, he slept on the kitchen floor at night. He learned Muay Thai, a Thai combat sport, while he was in Bangkok and later began teaching the same in Mumbai when a student of his, recommended him to model. The rest is history.
Born to a renowned writer and poet – Harivansh Rai Bachchan, he was destined to make it big. His journey in the film industry has been anything but a cakewalk. Film-makers rejected him for being 6 feet 3 inches tall and had their doubts about his acting skills. Moreover, he was denounced for his husky and hoarse voice, which at the time wasn’t considered sexy. Now, he towers over other movie stars and is most notably known for his voice and acting skills. Oh, the irony!
Rekha had a troubled past. Her father,Gemini Ganesan who was a famous actor disowned Rekha’s mother. Rekha’s mother, Pushpavalli was the sole breadwinner of the family and soon the responsibility was on Rekha’s shoulders. She had no inclination towards the film industry but was forced into acting owing to severe hardship, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. This evergreen actress went on to act in more than 180 films in her career spanning over 40 years.
Arshad Warsi oozes talent, hard-work, and grit. He was orphaned at 14 and struggled for a living in Mumbai during his early days. When most of us were hanging with friends and attending college at the age of 17, Arshad was selling cosmetics for a living. Later while working in a photo lab, he received an offer to join Akbar Sami’s dance group, which inadvertently paved a way to Bollywood.
These were some of the actors who made it on our list. Comment below and let us know which actor inspired you the most.
