Their hobbies take them away from the film sets. The actors try and invest their time in things that matter to them. Some of South Indian cinema’s most popular actors haven taken to gardening. Actors are now doing their bit to make the environment a cleaner and greener place. Let’s take a look at some stars who have taken up the challenges of farming/gardening.

Apart from being a vegetarian, the actor enjoys eating a healthy diet that consists of the fresh vegetables from his very own terrace garden. He is a strong believer of hydroponics – a method of growing plants without soil.

We all know how immensely talented Prakash Raj is. Apart from making his presence felt in south cinema,  the actor is quite popular in Bollywood as well. But did you know that the actor is interested in farming? The actor has farm near Mahabalipuram, and a farm each in Hyderabad and Kodaikanal. He also posted a picture of him on a tractor, stating that it was one of his childhood dreams to own one.

Telugu cinema’s most influential actor Pawan Kalyan, juggles between acting and his political career. He is also said to be a self-taught farmer. He grows tomatoes, mangoes and other vegetables on his farm. It is also reported that he likes to work on everything by himself, including ploughing the land. It is learnt that Pawan Kalyan uses renowned agriculturalist Subash Palekar’s zero budget spiritual farming techniques.

Mammootty believes in eating fresh and healthy. So much so that he takes to farming and updates himself about the latest developments in that field. A company owned by Mammootty has cardamom, coffee and pepper plantations near Munnar, which are farmed in a completely natural manner (not organic). The actor also has a property in Kakkanad where fruits and vegetables are grown in the same manner. Mammootty’s paddy fields near Cheepungal at Kumarakom, are also famous.
 
Kunchacko Boban

The How Old Are You actor, Kunchacko Boban is one of the newest entrants in the field, and admits organic farming has interested him. Kunchacko Boban has a farm in Aluva, and is also into terrace farming.
