In 2014, Megastar Chiranjeevi adopted a village named Perupalem in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, following a directive by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana. The actor-turned-politician had previously sanctioned a sum of INR 50 lakh for the development of his hometown Mogalthur as well. More recently, the actor had visited the village and announced a sum of INR 5 crore for development programmes in Perupalem.
Srimanthudu is easily one of the biggest hits in Mahesh Babu’s career. The actor played the role of Harsha, a young man who learns about his ancestral roots and adopts a village. Mahesh Babu had taken his role quite seriously, so much so that he went on to adopt a village named Burripalem. Now, his family is set to visit Burripalem, the village which is the birthplace of his father, actor Krishna.They will visit the village to begin development work under smart village adoption scheme.
Pan Indian star, Prakash Raj has adopted a village in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana. The actor has adopted Kondareddypally village and has promised to help build infrastructure in the village. Members of the Prakash Raj Foundation work towards developing the village. The actor will be working with the government and the farmers to improve agriculture and basic amenities.
Actor Manchu Vishnu, son of former MP and actor Mohan Babu, has adopted 10 villages in Chandragiri mandal of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh. His father, Mohan Babu hails from Chittoor, which explains his decision. Not just that, the actor has started a team, known as ‘Green Army’ comprising students from educational institutions, who visit villages and create awareness about sanitation.
It’s a known fact that Suriya carries out philanthropic works through his trust Agaram Foundation. The devastating Chennai floods destroyed several neighboring places as well, and the actor decided to be a part of the rehabilitation work. The foundation has adopted three villages in Thiruvallur district. Agaram is helping the villagers put their lives back on track.
