5 Things We Learned from the First 20 Matches of T20 cricket league

The T20 cricket league is here, with the first two weeks of the tournament throwing up many surprises along the way. The lavish Mumbai Indians have suffered a loss in form, with captain Rohit Sharma coming under heavy criticism for his wayward form. The Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand have played their hearts out and are currently topping the table. Chennai Super Kings seem to follow their mantra of getting up late and hurrying, only to narrowly miss out on a play-off spot. RCB, SRH and DD will be seen haggling for the final play-off spot in the latter stages of the tournament. Here are 5 things we learned from the first two weeks of the T20 cricket league 2015:

Money isn’t everything
The Mumbai Indians, despite spending ludicrous amounts of money on new players have found themselves at the bottom, fighting for the wooden spoon. Inconsistency and loss of form of top players such as Lasith Malinga have been the main reasons for their current place in the league. The Royal Challengers Bangalore, despite having Chris Henry Gayle and De Villiers in their squad have simply failed to turn up, with skipper Virat Kohli fighting a lone battle.
The India spot
Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa, Wriddhiman Saha are among the few trying to make a comeback into the national squad. While Yuvraj has some way to go, the selectors surely cant overlook Uthappa’s 912 runs in 19 innings which helped  Karnataka defend their Ranji Trophy title.
Sandeep Singh, Sanju Samson, Karun Nair are a few among the many youth vying for the coveted India spot in the near future.  Though they may not play the big tournaments, they might play when the India regulars take rest.
The Aussies have carried their WC form into the T20 cricket league 2015
Following up their World Cup win, the Aussies have lit up the Pepsi IPL with their performances. Shane Watson has led from the front, with Steve Smith continuing his World Cup form into the Pepsi IPL. Mitchell Johnson, after a rough start to the IPL finally came good in the superover  vs the Rajasthan Royals.
Tough Fight This Year
The final play-off spot will be a tough battle, with all teams having a heady combination of players and coaches. The play-offs would not be decided until the last few league matches, unless a few teams have a massive drop in form.
