If there is one place where the DCEU has overtaken Marvel is their willingness to give the female superheroes a fighting chance. With Wonder Woman getting her stand-alone film much before any of the other Justice League characters, DCEU isn't a lost cause yet. Wonder Woman already made an appearance in Batman V Superman but those of who are not comic book nerds don't know much about her except for her capabilities in the battle. This movie hopes to solve that. Wonder Woman made her comic debut in 1941 in the midst of a war and it is no surprise that her introduction to the men of the world took place in such a time. If you have seen the trailers, you know the movie looks good but there are some things you might have missed, not anymore.
The Golden Lasso
The Golden Lasso which we got a sneak peak at in Batman V Superman is all set to be a part of this movie as well. It confirms the comic lore that the Lasso was with Wonder Woman since her first foray into the battle.
Battling with God
In her first movie itself, Wonder Woman is shown battling with her nemesis the God of war Ares. But that isn't the only villain in the movie. The final trailer reveal Dr. Poison who might not win in a fist fight against Wonder Woman but she is certainly a formidable foe.
War comes to Themyscira
Given the timeline and the settings, the rest of the world seems to be in a midst of war whereas Themyscira (home of Wonder Woman remains untouched. But not anymore, not long after Diana meets Steve Trevor, a battle wages on the beaches of Themyscira. You know you are in for an epic battle sequence when you witness Antiope shooting three arrows at the same time.
It is no secret the Steve Trevor is Diana's first love and also the first man she ever sees. He is also the one who transports her from Themyscira to the middle of the war (well, almost). They have kept that part of the story intact and that is a relief for all the comic book lovers.
The first trailer had Diana entering modern-day Louvre which proves that her origin story is in flashback and it makes sense if they are trying to establish a timeline. She receives the popular photograph of her standing with her World War one colleagues. It is very possible that Mr. Wayne has something to do with this.
