There are a lot of actors who are famous for the negative roles they have played. Their characters are often hailed among the most iconic villains of all time. It isn't always that the actors themselves are very happy with the tag though.
Danny Denzongpa is one of those. Known for iconic roles like Kancha Cheena in Agneepath and Katya in Ghatak, he has managed to exude sophistication with every character he played. In the 1980s, he almost quit Bollywood because he was tired of being offered only villainous roles. Fortunately, he didn't and we saw this singer, director and actor in a variety of other roles since then.
Today on his 68th birthday, here are five times Danny wasn't the baddie and we adored him for that.
He played Firoz Ali Khan, the head of the Project Baby. He made sure that the feuds between Akshay Kumar's character and Anupam Kher's were minimum and the mission was accomplished. It was impressive to see him in such a role.
Danny was the "Big Boss" in this Akshay Kumar-starrer. He is the one who takes the young Boss under his wing and raises him to not only manage his business but also makes sure that he is raised right. He also plays an instrumental part in re-uniting father and son.
China Gate (1998)
Major Ranjir Singh Gurung (Danny Denzongpa) who might have been dismissed from the army due to his cowardice showed great bravery against Jageera (Mukesh Tiwari). He was one of the first who signed up for the mission without worrying for his life even.
In this period movie, Danny played Virat who took it upon himself to protect the Emperor at all costs. The audience loved the character and Danny's brilliant portrayal of him in a film that wasn't otherwise the most successful one that year.
