5 Times Irrfan Khan Wowed the World

Let’s face it. Irrfan Khan is a powerhouse of acting talent. With brilliant performances in domestic films like Maqbool, Life in a Metro and Mumbai Meri Jaan, he’s always managed to stun us with his honest and heartfelt performances. His recent films have all been huge successes, including Haider, The Lunchbox and Piku. Known as a critics’ actor rather than an actor of the masses, he’s come a long way from his role in Salaam Bombay. However, Irrfan is known for his work in Hollywood as well, carving a respectable niche for himself in the Hollywood film industry. Here’s five times Irrfan wowed not only us, but the rest of the world as well.

The Namesake
Irrfan’s performance as the simple and loving father, Ashoke Ganguli won us all over, and had our hearts brimming with sadness when he died in the film.
Slumdog Millionaire
Irrfan’s role as the police inspector in the Oscar winning smash hit Slumdog Millionaire was commendable for the menace and grit he brought to the frame.
New York, I Love You
Starring alongside Natalie Portman as Mansukhbhai, Irrfan amazed everyone in the critical success that was New York, I Love You. The film was praised widely for its honest characters as well.
The Amazing Spiderman
Appearing in one of the biggest superhero franchises around the world is no small feat. And Irrfan nailed the role of Dr. Rajit Ratha to the T. Initially, he had refused the role, but when his kids pressured him to take it, he obliged. We’re sure glad they forced him!
Life of Pi
Irrfan playing the adult Piscine Molitor Patel in the on-screen adaptation of Yann Martel’s beautiful novel Life of Pi was a treat to watch. Subtle, understated, yet extremely convincing, his performance shone through.
The gifted actor is soon going to be seen in Jurassic World, as Simon Masrani, CEO of Masrani Corporation and the owner of Jurassic World. We’re betting he’s going to be brilliant! Do you think so too? Let us know in the comments below!
